The Albuquerque Lifestyle

Albuquerque offers an opportunity for an outstanding lifestyle.  When visitors come from other parts of the country they see mostly desert.  If you live in Texas you enjoy an abundance of exceptional lakes.  Colorado has the best snow skiing in the world.  Arizona in the winter - excellent golf weather.  Commerce - Wall Street and Los Angeles.  East coast, west coast, around the U.S. - fine dining, entertainment and culture.

The Southwest Lifestyle is about a balanced Lifestyle - a balance of career and finance, friends and family, health and fitness, recreation and leisure.  In Texas you have a dozen lakes within minutes but the nearest snow skiing is 4 hours away.  On the other hand, in Colorado you have the best snow skiing in the world but just try putting your boat in the water in April or October. Arizona in July?  Ouch. High tech careers in the metropolises - matched with the highest costs of living.  Fine dining and entertainment  - after an hour commute through car exhaust. Those of us who know the southwest lifestyle wouldn't trade Albuquerque for any other home in the world.

Albuquerque may not be "world-renowned" for any one feature... other than it's balanced lifestyle, it's unique,  incredible climate and four distinct seasons, spring, summer, winter and fall. Many of us have gone snow skiing in the morning at Sandia Peak and then came back down to play golf in the afternoon. In April we watched the hot air balloons over the water at the lake two hours south - and we watched from the boat. Interested in great dining?  Oh the pleasure of listening to a Russian visitor talk at length, in a very heavy Russian dialect, about her newfound addiction to New Mexico green Chile - "You know, I do believe it has addictive qualities."  I'll say!  We agree.   High-tech? Sandia Labs located on Kirtland Air Force Base   is home to one of only three teraflop computers in the entire world - the most powerful high-tech machine in existence. We had a friend visit from Long Island, New York -  "Look at all this wasted land!  Its just sky!  Where are all the buildings?"  We agree completely.  It's open land, huge skies, massive sunsets, balanced lifestyles. We may not have the best of anything in particular, we just have it all.
